Maintenance, Bus and Grounds Officer

Full-Time Ongoing Position
To commence on 15 January 2018
Salary Range $58,964 - $61,423 pa

Applications are invited for the position of Maintenance, Bus and Grounds Officer.  The role is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the College’s property, buildings, furniture and grounds to a high standard. The role will also include bus driving duties for the College, which will generally be during school hours. However, on occasion the Maintenance, Bus and Grounds Officer may be responsible for College bus runs outside of school hours in the absence of other staff.
The successful applicant will have: 

  • Or be willing to obtain a child related Department of Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) employment screening
  • A heavy rigid (HR) licence, with driver accreditation
  • A background in either maintenance, gardening or building
  • Appropriate experience, including WHS compliance
  • Communication and interpersonal skills appropriate to a school setting
  • Competent IT skills

Experience in a school environment and a trade qualification is desirable but not essential. The successful applicant will identify with the Christian ethos of the College and contribute to the wider school community through interaction with staff, students, families, visitors, contractors and suppliers.

2018 Traineeships

St Martins Lutheran College is seeking applications from positive and enthusiastic school leavers to join their team.  We are offering six traineeships for 2018.

  • Education Support (4 positions)
  • ICT (1 position)
  • Sport and Recreation (1 position)

Duties will include:
ICT Trainee:

  • Provide ICT support for students and staff of the College.
  • Assist in day to day ICT operations.
  • Keep ICT equipment and areas tidy and in working order.
  • Installation/removal of equipment on a permanent or temporary basis.
  • Have a good understanding of recent operating systems and software including Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, iOS and Microsoft Office.
  • Create and maintain documentation and instructions.
  • Manage user accounts and passwords across various systems.
  • Use helpdesk software to manage jobs.
  • Contact vendors for support/warranty issues.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Education Support Trainee:

  • Provide educational assistance to students under the supervision of the teacher.
  • Observe student learning and behaviour and pass on concerns to the teacher.
  • Support student learning as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist the teacher in maintaining positive communication with parents/carers.
  • Assist with preparation of class resources under teacher direction.
  • Assist with filing of student information.
  • Assist with classroom organisation including setting up and tidying.

Sport and Recreation Trainee:

  • Assist with planning and preparation for athletics, swimming carnivals and hosting Interschool Athletics. 
  • Assist in keeping sports shed and music room neat, organised and in working order.
  • Assist in organisation, management and coaching of school sports teams.
  • Assist with organising resources and day to day operations for music/PE lessons as directed by teacher.
  • Assist with after school sporting events such as Net Set Go, Auskick and In2Cricket.
  • Use the sound desk for chapel and sports events and assist with the sound and set up for music performances, which may involve out of hours work.
  • Assist with administration duties for sport and music faculties. 

Requirements:

  • Organisational and time management skills including the ability to cope with high volumes of work, changing priorities and meeting critical deadlines.
  • Be supportive of the Christian ethos of the College. 
  • Interpersonal skills that portray a welcoming atmosphere, friendly disposition and helpful nature.

Conditions:
The traineeship is for a 12 month period, which will include completing a Certificate 3 in either Information, Digital Media & Technology, Education Support or Sport and Recreation.  You are welcome to apply for more than one traineeship however, we will require a separate covering letter for each application. Secondary Learning Support Coordinator

Applications are invited from dynamic teachers for the position of Secondary Learning Support Coordinator. 
The Secondary Learning Support Coordinator will provide specialist assistance to students who experience barriers to their learning or those needing support to extend their learning and capabilities to reach their potential. Primarily, but not exclusively, the position will focus on literacy, numeracy and language development in the Middle and Secondary years.  They will respond to student needs and plan, program and engage collaboratively with other staff to ensure the safety, wellbeing and academic achievement of students.
